Engineering & Technical FAQs

Common questions about our DFM workflow, tooling standards, and project support.

Do you provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) analysis?
Yes, this is a standard part of our engineering review. Before tooling begins, our team provides a comprehensive DFM report covering draft angles, wall thickness analysis, gating system design, and ejection pin locations to prevent defects and reduce production costs.
What software does your engineering team use?
We utilize industry-standard CAD/CAM software including UG (Unigraphics NX), Pro/E, and SolidWorks. For mold flow simulation, we use Magmasoft to predict filling patterns and porosity risks during the design phase.
How do you ensure consistent quality across mass production?
Our engineering team establishes a rigid Control Plan and PFMEA for every project. We monitor critical parameters at every stage, from melting temperature to CNC tolerance checks. You can view our detailed 7-Step Manufacturing Process here to understand our quality gates.
Can you support rapid prototyping before hard tooling?
Yes. We can validate designs using CNC machining from solid block (for structural testing) or 3D printing (SLA/SLS) for fitment checks. We also offer soft tooling (P20 steel) for low-volume bridge production if needed.
Who owns the die casting mold/tooling?
You (the customer) retain 100% ownership of the molds. We store and maintain them at our facility for the entirety of their lifecycle at no extra cost. We never use your tooling for other clients.
How do you handle Engineering Change Orders (ECO)?
Our engineering team reviews the requested changes, assesses the feasibility of modifying the existing tool versus making a new insert, and provides a cost/timeline impact report within 48 hours.
What is the typical lifespan of your H13 steel molds?
For high-pressure aluminum die casting, a premium H13 steel mold typically lasts between 80,000 to 120,000 shots. We perform regular maintenance (nitriding, cleaning) to extend tool life.
Do you protect my Intellectual Property (IP)?
Absolutely. We are accustomed to working with NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreements) for automotive and aerospace clients. Your 3D data and drawings are stored on a secure, restricted-access server.
Can your team communicate technical details in English?
Yes, our project managers and lead engineers are fluent in technical English. We host regular video conference calls (Teams/Zoom) to discuss DFM and progress updates directly, eliminating communication errors.
What information do you need for a precise quote?
Please provide 3D files (STEP/IGES) for weight/volume calculation, 2D drawings (PDF) for tolerance/thread specifications, material requirements (e.g., ADC12, A380), and estimated annual volume.
